Energy Consultant Conquers the Growth Curve

Rock Advisory Group enjoyed a three-year engagement with a boutique energy consulting firm located in Michigan. With a transitioning economy, the client had some lofty, and necessary business plans to upgrade their market offering and business leadership. Rock was able to bring the team through an ownership transition process, a new brand launch, the implementation of a project management system and several strategic hires along the way. All activities were done in the context of a three-year strategic planning process that was developed and implemented by Rock.

Global A/E Firm Gets a Boost

Rock continues to support the strategic planning efforts of a global architectural and engineering firm with more than 30 offices worldwide. In most cases, Rock supported strategic planning at a corporate level, as well as for their US operations. During the engagement, Rock hired senior technical and business development staff, and conducted M&A activities across 17 markets across the US and Canada.

Non-Profit Charts Progress

A state chapter of a national non-profit hired Rock to tackle the challenge of building a comprehensive five-year corporate plan designed to build consensus amongst the various stakeholders. Rock successfully designed, facilitated and delivered a plan that is in use today, and was built through the successful engagement of leadership, board members, employees and volunteers.

Metrics for Manufacturing

A Chicago-based manufacturer in transition hired Rock to help them with customer perception and data analysis so they could better understand their current market position, and more quickly react to and win individual sales opportunities. Rock successfully conducted internal and external market research, delivered trend data and developed an overall sales reporting platform from which to move forward confidently.

Recruiting from Down Under

Rock serves as a strategic recruiting partner for an Australian-owned, publicly traded professional services firm with aggressive growth and operations goals in the US.

Retailer Repositioning

A 40-branch franchise retailer positioned for growth engaged Rock to develop a strategic plan to help them break down market opportunities into actionable phases. This included designing and facilitating an ownership transition strategy critical to their financial position and future growth.

Rock brings several key attributes to his involvement in an organization:

Vision: He is able to see beyond what exists today to what could exist, improving on what is and what has been.

Pragmatic: He can outline the process to move from one point to another, using clear, measured steps.

Motivating: Terry fills a room with his enthusiasm and is able to energize a team into action.

In order to be successful in today’s difficult land development market, companies need to think differently and act on new initiatives. Terry’s ability to ‘think outside the box’ and develop creative new ideas in a down market has been impressive.
